Jean started her fitness career teaching group fitness classes and personal training at local gyms in the Palm Harbor community. In 1998, she took a leap of faith and opened her first personal training studio, Maxx Fitness & Wellness. In 2000, she embarked in professional Pilates training and has been teaching Pilates ever since. Jean is certified through Polestar Pilates and is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT). She is a certified Personal Trainer through AFAA, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, NASM Senior Fitness Specialist, NASM Stretching and Flexibility Coach, and NASM Nutrition Coach, TRX Suspension Training and Essentrics.
She teaches her clients how to move better and practice Plates effectively by incorporating the Pilates Principles of Movement into their Pilates practice and honors Joseph Pilates guiding principles. Polestar Principles are Breath, Control, Mobility, Alignment, and Movement Integration, and Joseph Pilates three guiding principles are Breath, Whole Body Movement and Whole Body Commitment. Jean has worked with clients with pre-existing conditions, injuries, orthopedic issues, surgeries, back pathologies, arthritis, atrophy, osteoporosis, stenosis, and overall tightness of the muscular system. She has witnessed the change of Pilates in her client's bodies when they are consistent with their practice. Pilates is not just for women but it is a great workout for strong men and athletes who want to stay fit, mobile and pain free for a lifetime.
Jean's motto is to be persistent, consistent and never give up. Her passion for teaching fitness and Pilates, her background in business, an entrepreneurial spirit, and Christian faith have all paved the way for her service in the fitness industry. Jean teaches people that everyone can create a healthy lifestyle and improve vitality at any stage of their life. She believes that everyone has the opportunity to live their best life possible when they are good stewards of their body, exercise in moderation, eat healthy and follow biblical principals.
