
Jean Deferrari began her fitness career as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer. She was a bodybuilder and a Fitness America Pageant competitor for more than six years. While recovering from a difficult SI Joint injury and low back pain, she was led to Pilates. Pilates helped strengthen weak muscles and correct faulty movement patterns that were causing injury and pain. Jean substituted her weight lifting workouts for Pilates workouts and converted her personal training studio into a Pilates studio. She has been teaching Pilates since 2001 and enjoys sharing the benefits of Pilates and her experiences with her personal training clients. In addition Jean offers nutrition coaching, weight loss coaching and scientifically researched nutrition programs.
Jean's teaching philosophy is combining evidence-based Pilates exercise with corrective exercise strategies, mindful movement and imagery. Jean combines the art of choreography and variations of exercises to help her Pilates clients feel refreshed, strong, balanced and flexible after every Pilates session.
